A study in 2003 done by Greenlees et al on the impact of opponent's non-verbal behavior on the first impressions and outcome expectations of athletes should be noted. Part of the experiment is custom sports team uniforms. Their study revealed that lower confidence in their ability to defeat the opponent when they view the opponents wearing custom made sports uniform than wearing general sportswear.
